Nearly half a million citizen die each year due to heart attack brought on by coronary artery disease, also known as Cad. However, there are ways different ways to treat coronary artery disease and some of them are listed below:
o One of the most productive ways of treating coronary artery disease is through the use of medication. Chest pain due can be successfully treated with nitrates and calcium channel blockers.
o When medication cannot treat coronary artery disease, doctors achieve more tests to see how severe the disease is. Commonly tests like stress Thallium scintigraphy, echocardiogram and coronary angiogram are performed to check the severity of the disease.
o If the disease affects one or two arteries but is limited in nature, doctors will achieve an angioplasty. This is a non-surgical procedure which involves using a curative balloon to open the obstructed arteries.
o If the coronary artery disease has caused severe damage to the arteries, then angioplasty is performed and then a stent is inserted into the damaged arteries to keep them open.
o When it has caused comprehensive damage to the arteries, the patients are advised to experience a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, also known as Cabg. In this procedure a vein or artery from someone else part of the body is taken and then it is used to bypass the damaged artery so that blood flow can be restored to the affected parts and the parts beyond.
o However, in some patients the damage to the artery can be so bad that a coronary artery bypass graft may not be possible. Then the alternative is to use a laser beam to make holes in the walls of the heart through which the blood can flow into the muscle of the heart. This procedure is known as Laser Revascularization.
As curative science and technology has developed over the years, doctors have many different ways to treat coronary artery disease and treating this disease is no longer difficult as it used be just a few decades ago.
